Wegovy costs considerably more in Pakistan than most people expect, and the sticker price is only part of the total. Because Wegovy has no official registered launch here, every unit reaches the country through import channels, and that shapes everything about what you pay.
This guide breaks down the real cost structure, the parts that catch people out, and what the honest alternatives look like if the numbers do not work for your household.
Why there is no single Wegovy price
Wegovy is the higher-dose weight management version of semaglutide, made by Novo Nordisk. In countries where it is officially launched, there is a published list price and a regulated supply chain.
Pakistan does not have that. What circulates here comes through personal imports, informal channels, and small-scale medical suppliers. Each has different costs, different markups and different reliability.
This is why you will see wildly different figures quoted. There is no official number to anchor to. The price you are given depends entirely on who is selling and what their supply cost was that month.
Three things push the price around:
The exchange rate. Every imported unit is priced in dollars or euros first. When the rupee weakens, the price here rises within weeks.
Supply availability. Global semaglutide demand has repeatedly outstripped production. When international supply tightens, prices in unofficial markets rise sharply.
Chain length. The more hands a package passes through before reaching you, the more markup accumulates.
The realistic monthly range
Imported GLP-1 injections in Pakistan generally fall in the range of Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000 per month. Wegovy sits at the upper end of that range because it is a weight-management-dose product rather than a diabetes dose.
The dose escalation schedule matters here. Wegovy starts at 0.25 mg weekly and steps up roughly every four weeks to a maintenance dose of 2.4 mg. Higher doses cost more. Your month-one cost is not your month-five cost.
A full course is not a one-month purchase either. Clinical use runs for many months. In the STEP 1 trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine, the 14.9 percent average weight loss was measured over 68 weeks. That is well over a year of continuous treatment.
Multiply the monthly figure by that duration and the true commitment becomes clear.
The costs nobody quotes you
The injection price is the part people compare. It is not the part that surprises them.
Physician consultation. Private clinics in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad charge roughly Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 for an initial consultation. Follow-up visits during dose escalation add more.
Cold chain delivery. Semaglutide must stay refrigerated. Proper cold-chain shipping costs money, and cheap sellers who skip it are selling you a product that may have lost potency in transit.
Baseline testing. Responsible prescribing usually means blood work before you start and periodically after.
Supply gap losses. This is the one that genuinely hurts. If your supplier cannot source your next dose, your course breaks. Appetite returns, and the weeks you paid for lose much of their value. Restarting often means re-escalating the dose from a lower point.
Sharps disposal and supplies. Minor, but real.
Add these up and the effective monthly cost is often 20 to 40 percent above the quoted injection price.
The counterfeit problem
Where demand outstrips legal supply, counterfeits follow. This is not a theoretical risk in Pakistan.
Fake semaglutide pens have been found in multiple markets globally. Some contain insulin instead, which is dangerous. Some contain nothing active at all. Some contain the right drug at the wrong concentration.
You cannot identify a counterfeit by looking at it. Packaging is copied convincingly.
The practical rule is simple. If a seller cannot show you a verifiable import trail, cannot confirm cold-chain handling, and takes payment in advance through a personal account, treat the product as unverified regardless of how professional the presentation looks.
What the money actually buys
It is worth being clear about this, because cost-only comparisons mislead.
Wegovy works. The trial evidence is strong and the average results are substantially better than older weight loss medications. Nobody should pretend otherwise.
The question is not whether it works. The question is whether a treatment you cannot reliably obtain, cannot afford across a full course, and cannot verify the authenticity of is the right choice for your situation.

Work out the total, not the monthly figure. Take the quoted price, add consultation and delivery, then multiply across the number of months you would realistically need.
Then ask the harder question. Can you sustain that for the full duration, through exchange rate swings and supply gaps? A course you abandon at month three costs you the money and returns very little.
If the total works, Wegovy is a strong option where you can obtain it verifiably. If it does not, a treatment you can actually complete beats a better treatment you cannot.
